SHI Consulting (SHI) congratulates the Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute (TBRRI) for securing nearly $6.5 million in funding from Ontario’s Ministry of Research and Innovation for the establishment of the Ontario Network for Advanced Medical Imaging Detectors (ONAMID). SHI supported TBRRI in developing its successful bid to the Ontario Research Fund’s Research Excellence Fund.

ONAMID will support a team of innovative researchers, working closely with industry, to design, develop and commercialize the next generation of customized detectors to improve medical imaging applications, including breast cancer screening, prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, and minimally invasive cardiac intervention. TBRRI’s approach and resulting technology will change the face of imaging devices, providing higher quality images without increasing the cost and required radiation dose.

This engagement is the latest in a series of successful collaborations between SHI and TBRRI, beginning in 2008 when SHI helped TBRRI’s Board to develop the Institute’s foundational research strategy. SHI’s partnership with TBRRI continues to flourish as the Institute implements its vision to become one of North America’s leading centres for molecular imaging.
